Fuel Tank
Although the old retro-metal tank is cool, I wanted a slightly more modern look with more
capacity than the old tank. I ordered a universal fuel tank from Clarke
Manufacturing. This tank is designed to fit old ITs, YZs, KTMs,
and TT/XTs among other things. The tank installs easily and seems to be well
made. Full access to the dipstick is retained. The letters are red vinyl from a
craft store. This tank is trick! |
Exhaust
The exhaust pipe is from White Brothers. I had it on my old TT500 years ago. This pipe
makes a DRAMATIC gain in performance! The look is also MUCH better than the stock
low-pipe.
I use the stock spark arrestor which bolted right up. It sounds great but is pretty loud
with no muffler! I plan to install a Supertrapp muffler soon. The
Unifilter eliminated a jetting problem caused by the White Brothers pipe. |
Intake
The airbox was eliminated in favor of a Unifilter clamped to the stock carburetor. A
K&N crankcase filter was installed since the connection from the crankcase to the
airbox is now. I have an old 38mm Mikuni carb
maybe someday. |
Engine
The engine is bone stock for now. Id like to install the White Brothers 540cc
stroker kit and competition cam someday. The stock engine is very strong and responsive. |
