A healthy workout should create an atmosphere of fun recreation with a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. One form of exercise which I have enjoyed since childhood has been riding a bicycle. However, not until lately have I understood the importance of quality components which greatly enhance performance and comfort. This becomes crucial whether riding a 25 mile stretch or cruising the beach.
After some research I determined that a hybrid bike would be a good choice as a casual cruiser and some quasi-serious biking. I decided on the Specialized Crossroads, which was priced reasonable at just under $400. It is Specialized's most affordable package, with essential features that go way beyond the basic: quick-release tranz-X alloy 40mm travel suspension seatpost, adjustable alloy stem and comfort bars, forged pro-style linear-pull brakes with modulator, sealed hubs, headset and even an alloy kickstand. The Crossroads I purchased featured a new lightweight CrMo curved frameset and a quality Shimano Nexave/Acera 21-speed transmission as well as an adjustable alloy rise stem and comfort bars. On my first 26 mile trip I cut my time by more than 25 minutes and increased my average speed from 15 to 19.25 mph! The Crossroads is a great bike for anyone who wants to have a little fun and do a bit more serious biking - besides that it is a good looking bike.
