RAPPELLING

We offer three courses of rappelling that range from beginner to intermediate to advanced. Anyone that has not rappelled before must start out with the beginner course that is the foundation for future courses as well as the introduction to rappelling technique and safety. All participants are required to wear a helmet, a harness, and gloves, which will be provided. If you have your own and would like to use them, it must pass a safety inspection first. Our ultimate goal is to make sure that you have fun while being safe at the same time. While course outlines are stated changes can be made to suit the individuals needs. We also take pictures during our outings to display on the web page.

BEGINNER

The beginner course takes place at Shanty Hollow Lake, which is located just outside of Bowling Green, Ky. From the parking lot there is a short hike through the wooded lake side trails to the cliff face that reaches nearly thirty feet high. Once at the cliff a class will be held focusing on the basics, which are safety, proper technique and instruction on how to use the gear. After the instructional class participants will demonstrate the required rappelling techniques before they perform the actual rappel. All rappels are supervised with at least one instructor at the top of the cliff to get you started and one at the bottom to ensure your safety on the way down. Once the formalities are out of the way the fun can begin as you step to the edge of the cliff to take the first step towards your adrenaline rush. The beginner course includes transportation to and from the rappel site, all necessary equipment and as many rappels as you can handle.

-Cost: $40.00 per person.

-Lunch can be provided for additional cost.

INTERMEDIATE

The intermediate course takes place at Pilot Rock that is located in Todd County. It has a lot of history and is a great place to rappel from mid sized cliffs averaging sixty to eighty feet high. The focus for the intermediate course is fine tuning the rappel technique as well as using different devices to rappel. The intermediate course includes transportation to and from the rappel site, all necessary equipment and as many rappels as you can handle.

-Cost: $50.00 per person.

-Lunch can be provided for additional cost.

ADVANCED

The advanced course takes place at Dismal Rock that is located near Nolin Lake. This is one of the highest rappels in our area with cliffs reaching nearly one hundred and sixty-five feet in height. The cliff has an awesome view overlooking the river that makes you feel like you are going to rappel into the water. This course focuses on dealing with higher rappels and learning to free rappel without having a surface to bound from. Depending on time available and interest we can also teach self-rescue techniques and ascending. The advanced course includes transportation to and from the rappel site, all necessary equipment and as many rappels as you can handle.

-Cost: $75.00 per person.

-Lunch can be provided for additional cost.
